As stated in the pages of this section, the gear quality varies a lot in Gulmarg. For the best gear, be ready to pay what you would pay in Europe or America or even more. For good gear that has been used for a few years, gear rental is more affordable.

It is important to note that to ski the upper mountain (Phase 2 and the Chairlift) it is mandatory to ski with the necessary avalanche safety gear (avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel).

Ski & Snowboard Rental
We offer a wide selection of ski and snowboard equipment rental. As this is Gulmarg, India, you cannot expect the same equipment rental standards as in a western ski resort. Most of the gear available to rent is older and has been rented for many seasons.
Mandatory Avalanche Safety Equipment Rental
Gulmarg is an unusual ski resort (95% of the terrain is off-piste). You will ski in avalanche terrain where avalanches are an eventuality. It is mandatory to ski with the avalanche safety gear (avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel). You cannot load the gondola without it.
