Snow Safety Gear
As Gulmarg Ski Resort is mainly an off-piste resort, it is mandatory for your safety and the safety of others in your group that you ski and snowboard with the 3 most important items of all. Everyone should ski and snowboard with transceivers, probe, and a shovel. Everyone should know how to use their gear. You should practice a few times on the first day you Ski Gulmarg and a few times during your stay.
There is a limited supply of transceivers, probes and shovels for rent in Gulmarg. It is possible to rent all these items, but when the high season hits, we recommend that you bring your own safety gear (transceivers, probe, and shovel).

Camping Gear Rental in Gulmarg
Going Touring away from the crowd and off the beaten track can be a very pleasant adventure to add to your Gulmarg trip.
There is a lot to explore around Mt. Apharwat and Gulmarg. We offer guided tours to Sunshine Peak, including 1 or 2 nights sleeping in the backcountry.
It is possible to rent camping gear at an equipment rental shop, but the resources are very limited.
Over the 2011 ski season, it was impossible to rent a tent, but camping mattresses were available. There was one MSR camping burner, but it was dirty and you will need to ask the heliski company if they want to sell you a little bit of clean helicopter fuel. The Kerosene in Gulmarg is too dirty and clogs the burner in no time.
Other Winter Gear
It is possible to rent cross country skis and ski around the Golf course on a groomed cross country track.
It is also possible to rent snowshoes to walk around and enjoy the beautiful Himalayan scenery.
If you feel like skating on the ice rink, the Government Rental Center has ice skates for rent.

Ski & Snowboard Rental
We offer a wide selection of ski and snowboard equipment rental. As this is Gulmarg, India, you cannot expect the same equipment rental standards as in a western ski resort. Most of the gear available to rent is older and has been rented for many seasons.
Mandatory Avalanche Safety Equipment Rental
Gulmarg is an unusual ski resort (95% of the terrain is off-piste). You will ski in avalanche terrain where avalanches are an eventuality. It is mandatory to ski with the avalanche safety gear (avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel). You cannot load the gondola without it.
